FFF is a fall prevention, community education and referral resource for older Floridians dedicated to decreasing the loss in human life and reducing the economic impact resulting from falls and fall related injuries.

According to CDC statistics one third of adults age 65 and older falls each year. Of those who fall, 20 to 30% suffer moderate to severe injuries that make it hard for them to get around or live independently, and increase their risk of early death.

In Florida during 2011, the first ranking cause of non-fatal emergency department visits were due to falls.

By 2020 the annual direct and indirect cost of fall injuries is expected to reach $54.9 billion nationally. Local statistics in Martin County show that between October 2009 and September 2010 Fire Rescue responded to 2,500 calls that involved seniors falling.
